John Hurley SJ of Catholic Welfare Organization writes to Mother Mary Magdalen and discusses the Philippines situation, post-war realities, 63% of Jesuits there are native-born, one is a Bishop; 14 of 18 are native-born. Suggest she go there to reconnaissance; says that three Bishops want Carmels.

Copy of letter sent by E. Vagnozzi, Apostolic Delegate, to Manila's Apostolic Delegate, authorizing, thrugh SCRIS, the Carmelite Foundation in Naga; with letter by Sister John to Mother Mary Magdalen explaining and describing the situation.

Archbishop Keogh notifies Mother Mary Magdalen that he will have Lawrence Shehan, their ecclesiastical superior, interview each sister to ascertain their wishes about the foundation in the Philippines; in second letter he informs her that because of the "international situation" it is not wise for Baltimore Carmel to establish a Carmel then.

Sister John Wise sends copy of the official notice advising those at Jaro that SCRIS had approved the foundation at Naga, Camarines Sur, i.d, the indult had been granted. Sister John sees it as a miracle; they will be going there soon. Asks for religious supplies; mentions her father and family; and excuses excitement of the times.
