Scope and Contents

A handwritten copy of the "Bull of our Holy Father, Pope Sixtus by which he confirms the Constitutions of our holy Mother Teresa of Jesus." (June 5, 1590) This bull is a confirmation received by Anne of Jesus for the Constitutions of Alcala. Also, a handwritten copy of the "Bull of Pope Gregory the 15th for our separation from the government of our Order." (March 17, 1623) This bull was obtained by Anne of the Ascension and authorized the Carmel of Antwerp to pass from the jurisdiction of the Order to the jurisdiction of the Ordinary. Also, a handwritten copy of the "Declaration of the Archbishop of Mecklin." (Feb 26, 1626) This declaration is the acceptance of Jurisdiction of the Carmel of Louvain by the Archbishop. By this acceptance, this community begun by the Spanish Foundresses in 1607 passed from the jurisdiction of the Order to the jurisdiction of the Ordinary.
