Series 9: Correspondence, Aisquith Street
Scope and Contents
This series consists mostly of letters received by the prioresses, Mother Angela Teresa Mudd and Mother Delphina Smith. Some were sent to individual sisters (Ignatius Coombs, SJ, to Sister Stanislaus) or by the chaplain, Father Wm. O'Brien. They concern the daily affairs of the Baltimore community, including sales and business transactions, and sometimes related to the spiritual interests of the Carmelites. The other correspondence is from bishops, (Simon Brute of Vincennes and P.J. Lynch, of Charleston who was a brother of Sister Antonia), Michael O’Connor of Pittsburgh, J.B. Fitzpatrick of Boston), numerous Jesuits including Father Francis Neale, sisters of other religious congregations, and business friends.
