1921, praises new American foundations, how loss of four to New York was soon followed by three postulants; mentions "Bible Congress" held at Cambridge on 15th centenary of St. Jerome; 1922--they lost their prioress by asphyxiation; new gas stove defective, in infirmary; 1933 & 1936: 7 sent to Africa in 1931; two Carmels there in 1936; 1939, speaks of "full community" in MD; they have 4 vacancies; 8/21/1940; "Here we are living amid the fears and anxiety of full war time, with enemy planes...sirens.. Getting to rather like these midnight calls... Chaplain...gives us the general absolution and papal blessing... and then those who choose may go to the choir and be with Our Lord until the all clear is sounded." "It is a privilege to be up and in prayer for the dying and the dead during these continual air raids." Yet everything is quiet and peaceful in England...and everyone calm and full of confidence." Little harm is done...
